![]() ![]() I sold my S4 and bought an X1 and I'm much happier with it. The S2 and S4 don't fit that bill for me. However the X1 is just a really useful device and super portable and easy to set up in a cramped DJ booth. ![]() It's a decent bit of kit, sounds decent and will do the job just fine if you want simple control of 2 channels in Traktor. The Z1 feels a lot nicer than many controllers I've used, but it still doesn't feel as nice as a proper mixer (the cross fader is especially crappy, but the updaders are ok and then knobs are good quality). If you have a soundcard it's better to plug the X1 into a club mixer so that you get the best of both worlds: control of 2 traktor decks+fx and a way to load tracks without touching the laptop (that is so useful seriously) while enjoying the sound and feel of a real mixer. ![]() I used to do a local FM radio show where they had no decks in the studio so I had to use controllers.īut honestly, the Z1 gets less use from me than the X1, because I have an Audio 6 and an old Pioneer DJM 600 mixer, and the clubs I play usually have a mixer set up already which is better to use for a bunch of reasons. I've used this exact combo at home and it's a fun set up for when there are no decks or mixer available.
